Why Gary’s Bazaar
Our founder, Gary Hennessy has worked in Real Estate for many years. He had seen the struggle people had getting rid of unwanted goods when moving house. Charities were becoming picky about what they would take and yet people didn’t want to see their belongings end up in landfill. Things came to a head when Gary’s son and wife moved house. It was a great distance and they had packed all they could into the back of a moving van, but still there was so much left behind.
His son asked him if he could get the rest of the items cleared out of the house. The company he employed came in and demolished everything and took it to the dump. Thinking there had to be a better way, Gary started collecting items for free and donating them to charities, and using the internet to sell some goods to cover the costs of providing the service.
Gary’s Bazaar is now providing a much needed service to the community. We have been blessed with so much and we throw away so much that could be repurposed or reused. Our hope is that, in a small way, Gary’s Bazaar can help reduce waste and protect our valuable resources for future generations.
